The government is proposing to replace Disability Living Allowance (DLA) with a benefit known as Personal Independence Payment (PIP). DLA is a non means tested benefit which is intended to assist in meeting the extra costs which people with disabilities face in their daily lives.
The Royal National Institute of the Blind (RNIB) is concerned that the proposed replacement for DLA, PIP could mean that many blind people who are currently in receipt of DLA will no longer qualify for its replacement, PIP. RNIB is asking visually impaired people and other concerned people to contact their MP to voice their concerns on this issue. You can find full details of RNIB’s campaign at http://www.rnib.org.uk/getinvolved/campaign/yourmoney/Pages/DLA_reform.aspx.
