GOING THE EXTRA MILE

This post is about the excellent customer service which I regularly receive when travelling on London Underground.

As a blind person it can be daunting when arriving at an unfamiliar tube station. However on requesting assistance (prior to setting off for my destination), on arrival I’m met by a member of London Underground’s staff who escorts me to another platform or out of the station depending on my requirements. Indeed I’ve frequently had employees of London Underground leaving the station in order to conduct me to my destination. For example I’ve had London Underground employees walking with me for upto 10 minutes, assisting me in crossing busy roads and ensuring that I arrive safe and well at my destination.

There is a duty on London Underground’s staff to assist customers, however helping me to cross busy roads goes well beyond the call of duty. I am full of admiration for the men and women of London Underground.
