T S Eliot the Wasteland

I’ve just listened to a first-rate reading of Eliot’s Wasteland which was broadcast, on BBC Radio 4 on Thursday 29 March. for the dramatisation (which is availible for six days, on the BBC’s I-Player visit http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01dvzg7). For a permanent text of the Wasteland visit http://www.bartleby.com/201/1.html.

I don’t pretend to understand the poem in it’s entirety but the above performance is excellent and provides an insight into Elit’s bleak view of what he perceived as the wasteland of modern life.

We had to study this poem for one of the modules of my degree, a useful website to learn about the ridiculous amount of references that he puts in it is http://eliotswasteland.tripod.com/, i dont think it takes too much of the pleasure out of it although it obviously depends on how in depth you like going..
