Today’s (8 May) Kurzweil.AI Newsletter contains an article about Facebook addiction. Researchers have developed a test to ascertain whether users are addicted to the social network. According to the study symptoms of Facebook addiction resemble those of addiction to drugs and alcohol. Those who are addicted have broken sleep patterns and demonstrate a need to check Facebook on a regular basis.
I have a Facebook account but find the network cluttered and difficult to use. In fact I mainly utilise it for publicising my blog posts. If the network was made easier to use I would, no doubt utilise the site more, however I much prefer talking with friends face-to-face although that is I appreciate not always easy in a world in which we are often situated far away from friends and relations.
